Potable water from thermal desalination
There are different technologies for the desalination of Seawater.
When seawater is treated by thermal desalination, then a distillate is produced that must be remineralised to achieve drinking water quality.
The remineralisation process is based on the reaction between dissolved carbon dioxide and calcium salts to produce soluble calcium bicarbonate, which is required for potability.
PSC provides very efficient CO2 gas recovery process, either from the exhaust gas of the thermal desalination units or from the combustion of natural gas or diesel oil.
In both cases, the CO2 gas is absorbed by a wet scrubbing system, while the dosing of calcium salts can be realised by various injections process such as lime or limestone or other chemicals.
